Welcome to the Aberconwy and Colwyn branch of the NCT

Welcome

The branch is run by local volunteer parents for other parents and parents to be, offering support, information and friendship. We offer a range of help and activities and look forward to meeting you. Please click here to see how you can get involved!

Ante-natal classes

Run locally – get information and advice, meet other parents due to have babies around the same time as you. We offer a 15 hour course, although shorter courses can be arranged. The price for the 15 hour course is £129 (concessions are also available in some instances). For more information contact Hannah on 01492 540471 or email Hannahmfleet@yahoo.com.

Open House

There is usually an Open House event most weeks somewhere within our region (currently predominantly along the coast between Rhuddlan and Llanfairfechan). A member hosts a session and everyone is invited. There is an Online Calendar for these events and members volunteer to host sessions. It’s very informal, with coffee and possibly some cake and lots of chat for the adults and play for the small people. It’s a good way to make friends and can be a lifesaver. You can meet other parents with children of a range of ages, learn from their wisdom (and their mistakes) and get out of the house and have an adult conversation. All are welcome: bumps, babies, toddlers, children and parents.

Prams on the Prom

A gentle walk along the prom in Rhos-on-Sea, followed by coffee and cake (yes, there’s a theme developing). You don’t need a pram, all welcome, including dogs.

Meet every Tuesday at 10am by the clock next to the Tourist Info Centre on Rhos prom. If you can't make the walk, then feel free to meet the group on their return trip by the clock at 11! Ruth is the main contact for the prom walk.

Some NCT members with older toddlers and children are starting to meet at the softplay session in Llandudno Junction Leisure centre at 10.30 each Tuesday as an alternative to the walk. Cost is £1.65 per child with a Conwy Ffit card.

Equipment Hire

We currently do not have equipment for hire, but are working hard to change this. Please contact Jane if you have a specific query and the branch may be able to help.

Pub Night

Last Thursday of the month, meet at the Pen Y Bryn, Upper Colwyn Bay from 8pm. All adults welcome for drinks, puddings etc. For more information contact Kate.

Breastfeeding support

We don’t have a breastfeeding counsellor at the moment, but can offer support and experience as well as the loan of useful equipment. We can also recommend breastfeeding friendly venues and support groups in the area. Conwy Council has produced a leaflet highlighting breast feeding friendly premises in the county.

Nearly New Sale

We run two sales a year, selling good quality baby and children’s clothing, equipment and toys. The sales are an ideal way to sell on your children’s used things and we always need enthusiastic volunteers to get involved. For more information contact Sarah Jones.
