Emmeline Jarrey, a volunteer from Merseyside has been named Behind the Scenes Volunteer of the Year at the national NCT Stars Awards.
The award is presented to an NCT volunteer who has supported and helped other volunteers to ensure the smooth running of NCT in their local area.
NCT Wirral Branch volunteers Cath Auty who was nominated for the Volunteer Diamond Jubilee Award and Victoria Treadway who was nominated for Volunteer Parent Supporter of the Year were also recognised at the ceremony.
As Branch Coordinator of NCT Wirral Branch, Emmeline has transformed the branch by pulling together a team of volunteers and continually recognising and encouraging their individual skills. She has resurrected the branch’s newsletter and transformed its use of social media to promote the branch’s activities and events and offer support to new parents within the local community.
Emmeline often puts others ahead of herself, and even organised the branch’s Christmas Party when in hospital with her baby.
Presenting the award at a special celebration yesterday at City Hall, London, NCT Head of Volunteering, Nikki Squelch said: “Emmeline is clearly an ‘ideas machine’ and capable of realising the potential of every volunteer. She is a real role model for all NCT volunteers and works tirelessly on behalf of parents in the Wirral area.”
In accepting the award, Emmeline said: “To be recognised by NCT for doing what I love is a huge honour. I am extremely fortunate to work with some incredible volunteers and I thank everyone who has played a role in NCT’s 60 years of supporting UK parents.”
