In response to the Queen’s Speech, which announced a bill to increase the provision of free childcare, Abi Wood, Public Affairs Manager, NCT, said:
“More help with childcare costs is good news for parents but it’s those with children under two who are desperate for more support. These mums and dads are particularly under pressure because they are not yet eligible for even the statutory 15 hours of free childcare.
“Parents tell us the crucial time they need help is when they return to work after parental leave. Instead of increasing the free childcare available for three and four year olds we urge the Government to direct extra help to parents as soon as they choose to return to work.”
