Being a Parent EPEC course
Would you like to learn valuable parenting skills from other local parents?
Join our 8-week long, parent-led course to develop your parenting skills, improve confidence and create a loving home environment for you and your children.
Being a Parent EPEC courses are suitable for all parents and carers who are caring for at least one child between the ages of 1 to 3 years old.
What you'll learn
The course teaches evidenced-based parenting strategies and methods. It covers topics such as:
- attachment and parent/carer-child relationships
- understanding and managing children’s feelings
- emotional regulation for parents and carers
- parent and carer listening, communication, play and interaction skills
How to get involved
Courses begin:
- 29 January 2025 at the Ann Tayler Children & Family Hub, 1-13 Triangle Rd, E8 3RP
- 3 March 2025 from 12pm to 2pm at Woodberry Down Children and Family Hub, Springpark Dr, Woodberry Down, London N4 2NP
Become a Parent Group Leader
Could you help parents give their child the best start in life?
Becoming a parent group leader gives you the chance to help families gain the skills they need to give their children the best start in life.
As part of the EPEC programme we are looking for mums, dads and carers to become group leaders to deliver parenting courses in your local area.
As a volunteer group leader, you will:
- receive amazing free training and support from our local EPEC team
- learn to lead practical, caring groups for local parents
- share tried and tested methods that give children the best start in life
- join a group of like-minded parents to make a difference to your local community
- develop your skills and confidence
- gain experience that will help you fulfil your ambitions
- have your transport, meal and childcare costs paid for whilst undertaking and delivering training
- have access to a varied career development programme
Training
Our training course runs for 10 weeks, one day per week (from 10am to 2pm).
Once you have completed your training, you and another parent group leader will deliver courses to other parents across Hackney over an 8-week period.
You should allow 5 hours per week for course delivery, evaluation and supervision.
