Monday 9 September was the opening day of the third stage of the UK Covid-19 inquiry.
NCT is one of 13 Pregnancy, Baby, and Parenting Organisations (PBPOs) giving evidence on the impact of the pandemic on healthcare.
The opening remarks made on behalf of the group to the inquiry highlighted that devastatingly, some pregnant women died in potentially avoidable circumstances. These errors appear to have been the result of structural failures to pay attention to, prioritise and provide sufficient resources to the safety of pregnant women and people and their babies, and the failures were not quickly identified nor remedied.
