Yesterday MBRRACE-UK published their perinatal mortality report looking at deaths of babies before, during, or up to 28 days after birth.
Responding to the findings, Angela McConville, Chief Executive at NCT said:
"While stillbirths and neonatal deaths have been declining steadily over the last decade, inequalities in access to care and outcomes have persisted.
"We need tailored support for those families living in the most deprived parts of the country who are at greatest risk of baby loss.
"Delivering this support will require leadership, focus and joint-working from the Government, NHS and individual Trusts. But it's success will hinge on having properly resourced, funded, and managed maternity services - and this requires a multi-year settlement from Government."
"MBRRACE-UK provides a vital and invaluable source of data and insight into maternity outcomes and we would welcome an in-depth review of evidence in order to enhance perinatal services and tackle inequalities."
