In response to The Independent Pregnancy Loss Review, Angela McConville, Chief Executive of the National Childbirth Trust, said:
"This report brings into sharp focus the woeful experiences of women and families going through, and living with the impact of, pregnancy loss. I want to specifically thank Tommy's and Sands, advocates including Olivia Blake MP and Mylene Klass, as well as the hundreds of campaigners who have worked tirelessly to raise both the profile and the urgency of addressing shortcomings in the care of those experiencing pregnancy loss.
"Out of the 73 recommendations made across the report I am pleased to see specific reference to areas including dignity in care, mental health, education, workforce development, pain relief and the recognition of the disparities faced by women from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
"This report once again reminds us that women are not receiving the care they should rightly expect at a time of trauma, grief and emotional distress, and I look forward to working with the DHSC and the many partners in this field to implement these recommendations and improve the experiences of women and families across the UK experiencing pregnancy loss."
