Do you have a few hours to spare? Would you like to join our branch team?
Volunteers, parents and expectant parents just like you, run our branch. You don’t need to take on huge tasks, just commit whatever time you can. Whatever your previous experience, it is almost certainly useful to the branch. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, make friends and represent the NCT. You'll also get discounted NCT membership. Get in touch and get involved!

Current branch team vacancies
Parent Support Co-ordinator: Could you help organise our groups across the city and point parents towards them? Then we need you! Approx 2 hours per week, plus monthly meeting.
Events Co-ordinator: We need someone to help set up events to raise funds for the branch using Facebook and our NCT booking site. You'll be sourcing venues, taster sessions, entertainment and raffle prizes. Approx 1 hour per week plus monthly meeting.
Events Team: Are you good at organising parties and events? Our events coordinator can't run all our events on their own, so come and join the team!
Advertising Co-ordinator: We're looking for someone to co-ordinate the advertising in our newsletter; contacting potential advertisers, responding to enquiries and working with our treasurer to complete invoices. Approx 1-2 hours per week, plus monthly meeting.
Other volunteer roles
Group Volunteers
We are looking for mums and dads to help run our weekly groups. These groups couldn't run without the volunteers who help set up, clear away and count money. You'll also help greet newcomers and make them feel welcome. This can be run on a rota basis, so you don't need to be free every week.
Nearly New Sale Volunteers
The Southampton NCT branch holds two Nearly New Sales each year. Each sale requires over 80 volunteers on the day, helping to set up, manage the event and clean up. We appreciate any amount of time you can give us. Your main benefit? You get to shop at the Preview Sale before general admission...and if you can stay to help us clear up, we'll also provide a light lunch for you as our thank you for your efforts.

Breastfeeding Peer Supporters
If you have breastfed for at least three months and would like to support other mums, then why not join us as a peer supporter? You'll complete a short OCN accredited training course before starting your role.
General Members
Volunteers who have no specific role but just take a general interest in the branch and help out where they can by:
- Running local tea groups / bumps & babes groups
- Providing articles and top tips for our quarterly news letter
- Coming up with ideas for fundraising
- Helping set up and clear up at Bumps & Babes groups
- Making refreshments and manning our stalls at different events throughout the year
